How to play Ember

Ember 2048 is ordinary 2048 with one extra tile and one extra habit. If you have played the original, you already know 95% of this page.

The rules in ten seconds

The prism: the one new rule

Every ninth spawn, a prism appears — a tile with no number, marked with a diamond. It moves like any other tile. When it slides into a tile, it dissolves and doubles that tile. It is a merge without a partner, worth the full new value in points.

Only one prism exists at a time, so you can leave it parked in a corner and spend it later. The best use is the biggest number you own: a prism fed into a 512 gives you a 1024 you did not have to build. Feeding it a 2 is how people waste a free doubling.

Three habits that actually help

The daily ritual

One board per day, seeded from the UTC date, identical for every player on Earth — same tile order, same luck. You get one attempt. Your score is saved to the board when the run ends, and finishing consecutive days builds a streak. The board resets at midnight UTC.

Scoring

A merge is worth the value of the resulting tile, so 2+2 pays 4, 512+512 pays 1024. A prism doubling a 512 pays 1024 as well. Your best tile and your score are tracked separately on your profile.
